We're looking for someone who wants a business critical position in our growing team. Someone with a brilliant eye for detail, impeccable writing skills and incredibly high standards. Someone who's led a team of writers before, and is comfortable setting accountabilities and standards in a growing team. Someone who’s a bit entrepreneurial. Who likes to get stuff done, and who wants an opportunity to put their ideas into action

Projects that you might be working on day-to-day include:

  • Global value dossiers
  • Payer value propositions and objection handlers
  • HTA submissions (NICE, SMC, NCPE, plus AMCP dossiers)
  • Access landscape analyses
  • Evidence and access strategy planning workshops
  • Scientific advice projects (e.g. NICE, joint advice, parallel advice)

Where we excel at redthread is in blending brilliant writing with our knowledge of market access. You’ll also have the opportunity to be involved in activities across the business, and will have ultimate responsibility for ensuring redthread continues to deliver brilliant work for clients.

You'll typically split your time as: content development (20%), reviewing work/coaching other writers (40%), team management (20%), business development (10%), personal development (10%). You can see a list of key responsibilities below (and full details are provided in the job description you can download above):
  • Maintaining a relentless focus on quality of deliverables and of client service you have overall responsibility for ensuring redthread delivers exceptional work. This includes driving improvements in training and quality control measures to support redthread  Writers and Consultants, and to support them in any way to deliver our signature redthread quality
  • Build a world-class medical/market access writing team, including advising the redthread Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on hiring decisions (i.e. build your own team)
  • Develop and maintain your position as a market access thought leader by keeping abreast of latest industry thinking and news. Use this knowledge to create thought leadership content for redthread marketing and to advise your clients on appropriate strategy
  • Position redthread as a “trusted partner” for our clients. Nurture your client relationships, by conducting quarterly business reviews, and utilise our team to conduct additional due diligence on their therapy area, drug and key competitors.
  • Providing strategic support, mentoring and guidance for the Consulting and Writing teams when reviewing deliverables, and ensuring that deliverables address the strategic challenges and client KPIs required
  • Coaching responsibility (including line management) for Consulting and Writing team members, acting as a mentor and guide
  • Where required – i.e. due to Writer capacity limitations or to use as a development opportunity – writing clear, grammatically correct, technical and creative medical/scientific text for a variety of audiences (e.g. payers, healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical sales teams and patients)
  • Support non-billable redthread activities, including business development and marketing (e.g. blog posts). This includes contributing ideas for business proposals and new projects

Ultimately, you’ll be a senior leader in redthread, with the responsibility that goes alongside that. So you’ll need to have a level of experience that enables you to make that step. Ideally you’d have around 8+ years’ experience – any less than that and we’d be throwing you in at the deep end. That’s not how we work at redthread.

You’ll need to be able to provide your colleagues with support, guidance and the benefit of your experience. You’ll manage relationships with you team – and clients where necessary – brilliantly, showing the team how to deliver extraordinary client service and deliverables. And you’ll teach, train and provide mentoring and support.

You’ll almost certainly need to have been in a leadership position in a writing team before, and have had experience in setting standards and keeping your writers accountable to their KPIs

A background in life-science writing and/or consulting is important (either within pharma or agency), and existing knowledge of market access and value communications is critical. We’d love someone with previous experience at a senior level in a market access consulting environment . You need to have stellar writing and team leadership experience, and – ideally – strategic expertise in a particular area. That might be HTA. Or value communications. Or something else. But bringing strategic expertise to projects is a must.

You’ll also need to to have experience coordinating successful project delivery with no – or minimal – supervision. And given your business development role, you’ll need to have experience developing proposals and delivering new business independently.

The salary range for this role is £80-100k, depending on your experience. The more experience you have across our core deliverables, in managing and coaching people, and in developing strong partnerships with clients (and bringing in new business), the more towards to top end of that range you’ll be. All our roles at redthread have a published salary range, from entry level to Managing Director.

Our benefits include at least 25 days’ holiday plus your birthday off (increasing each year), discretionary profit share bonus, flexible working hours, travel insurance, funding for external training, Vitality private medical insurance, and industry-leading family friendly policies, including 8 weeks at full pay for the birth or adoption of a child, irrespective of gender (yours, not the baby’s!).

Home based (though you must have the legal right to work in the UK, irrespective of location). We appreciate that while working from home has its perks, it can also be lonely, which is why we offer lots of opportunities to connect with the rest of the team. Face-to-face retreats, and redthread VR headsets so that we can all connect virtually in the metaverse as well.

This role can be either full or part time (ideally full time) - we measure commitment by how committed you are, not by the hours you work. As with many aspects of our roles, when and where you work can be flexible, to suit your lifestyle and situation, so long as client deadlines are met, calls taken, and that you support your colleagues.
