When I had my first interview with redthread, I was intrigued by how different it seemed from other agencies. More people-focused, with a modern mindset. Exactly the sort of company I was looking for.

Did it seem too good to be true though? Was it everything the job advert said it would be? Well, I was reassured enough throughout the interview process and decided to jump in with both feet.

And am I glad I did. After a year of working at redthread, I’m happy to report that it is the company I thought it was, and so much more…here’s a few reasons why.

  1. Flexible working

This was one of the biggest advantages for me. So long as I hit my deadlines – and don’t let my colleagues down – I can work the times I feel most productive, when and where I like. With this flexibility, it’s so much easier to maintain a healthy work-life balance! Happy times!

  1. Remote working

Another huge one for me. First of all, no traffic – hurray! And second, I can work from the comfort of my own home: in my home office, in the garden, or even on my couch. As long as the work gets done, it really doesn’t matter where I am.

  1. Always learning

I love learning, developing, and growing in my professional life. At redthread, I get to work on a range of interesting projects and therapy areas. I get coaching from some of the best in the business, and we have a very open and transparent ethos of sharing our learnings. It’s a place where I definitely feel I’ll continue to grow and learn in the future.

  1. Safe environment to speak my mind up

One of the values that redthread is built upon is honest communication. This means that I can speak my mind. When I have an idea, I feel able to present it to others, despite them often having many more years’ experience than me. Everyone is listened to, and every idea considered. I feel – and am – listened to.

  1. The people

Pretty simple really: redthread’s team is a fabulous bunch of people. Probably everyone says that for their team, but it’s true. Despite the fact that we work in different locations up and down the UK, we’re a close team. We look out for each other, have each other’s backs and have a lot of fun along the way.

  1. A good boss

How important is this? A good boss. Sounds so simple yet not something you find often: he listens, he coaches, he pushes (in a good way!), he trusts, he understands, he encourages.

  1. Taking care of its people

Everyone’s physical and mental health is important at redthread. Everyone’s strongly encouraged to take breaks away from their computer. There is a dedicated wellbeing channel, covering all aspects of physical and mental health. We get to do a mental health first aid course if we choose to (which I have and it opened my eyes in so many ways). There’s always help if and when we need it.

  1. Not just a business

We deliver extraordinary work for our clients, yes. But redthread also exists to do the right thing. For our team, that’s donating at least 1% of our revenue to causes we care about. Last year I nominated a local charity to receive some funds from the business, and it was great to see how my hard work benefited my local community. I also love our environmental credentials. We’re always thinking about how to minimise our impact, and our redthread forest continues to grow. I absolutely LOVE that and I’m so lucky to be part of a company with an outlook that matches my own.

So there you have it. Is this a slightly rose-tinted view? Perhaps. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows. But it’s not often you find a company that fits with your personal values and people that you get along with. For all these reasons and a whole lot more, it’s a YES from me!
